There are times of the week, month or year when most businesses are closed. As a small and fast growing business, you want not to be among the most. This article outlines the various periods when it’s important to remain operational as a small enterprise.
a. Over the weekends
Most businesses are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and Fridays in some instances, either totally or partially (for those that open for a few morning hours on Saturdays).
Take advantage of the fact that majority of people are at home during the weekends, some of whom will check into your store to enjoy your weekend convenience boosting sales for your small business.
b. During holidays
Most businesses are closed throughout the Christmas season - from Christmas Eve all the way to New Year’s Day, and during other major holidays such as Independence Day.
You want to remain open during the holidays as a small business because these seasons always mean more people spending more money, which translates to more customers spending at your shop.
c. Early mornings and late evenings
Most businesses routinely open between eight and ten in the morning and close between the sixteenth and eighteenth hour, which is okay considering some factors like customer traffic.
Behold, thou shall be quick open your small business premises at dawn and be slow to close it in the dusk, for the earliest bird catches the worm and everything comes to those who wait a little longer.
d. Bad weather days
Some businesses stay closed on muddy days when it rains cats and dogs, or during the solar eclipse, or when there’s mild tremours - when the world looks like it’s going to end.
Come rain come shine, you should remain open. Weather is beyond human control but you are an entrepreneur, so a super human. Use your super power to get over the weather set back in your small business.
e. When you don’t feel like it
Some businesses, especially the ones operated by an individual, stay shut on those days when the person responsible for shopkeeping woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
You must be at your small business working your socks off whether you feel like it or not, whether you’re feeling motivated or otherwise, whether it’s your passion or something you have to do.
