How to Register for an NTSA TIMS Account as an Individual

The Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) is an online platform created to enable citizens to access National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) services conveniently. Almost all services offered by NTSA have been migrated to the TIMS platform.

How to Register for an NTSA TIMS Account as an Individual

Some of these services include:

  • motor vehicle registration
  • motor vehicle inspection booking,
  • motor vehicle transfer of ownership,
  • application for smart DL,
  • logbook transfer, etc.

Requirements

  • National ID Card
  • your Mother’s Maiden Name
  • KRA PIN Certificate
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

Procedure

  1. Go to your browser, search NTSA TIMS then click on the NTSA TIMS Portal to open.
  2. On the Home page, on the bottom right side of your screen, click Register.
  3. On the account registration page, confirm that the account type selected is Individuals and citizenship Citizen.
  4. Step 1, Verification:
    • Enter your ID Serial No. from your national ID card (top left side) and click Verify.
    • Enter your Mother’s Maiden Name i.e. your mother’s surname and click Verify.
    • Enter your PIN i.e. your KRA PIN from your KRA PIN certificate and click Verify.
  5. Step 2, Information:
    • Your Name, Gender and Date of Birth is auto-populated on the form. Enter your Occupation.
    • Your County of Birth is auto-populated on the form. Enter your Sub County.
    • Enter Phone i.e. your phone number and click Verify Phone. A verification code to verify your phone number is sent to your phone within a few seconds.
    • Enter the Verification Code you just received and click Verify.
    • Enter your Physical Address.
    • Enter Email i.e. your email address and click Verify Email. A verification code to verify your email address is sent to your phone (and email address but might delay) within a few seconds.
    • Enter the Verification Code you just received and click Verify.
    • Enter your Postal Address i.e. P.O. Box, Postal Code and Town, then
  6. Step 3, Complete:
    • click Submit.

Your NTSA TIMS account password is sent to your phone. Log into your TIMS account and change your pasword to something you can remember.

How to Reset NTSA TIMS Account Password

  1. Go to your browser, search NTSA TIMS then click on the NTSA TIMS Portal to open.
  2. On the Home page, on the bottom right side of your screen, click Forgot your password?.
  3. Enter your ID Number and click Submit.
  4. Click Get Verification Code beside your phone number. A verification code is sent to your phone within a few seconds.
  5. Enter the Verification Code you just received and click Submit.
  6. Enter and confirm your New Password, and click Submit.

That’s it! You can now sign into your TIMS account with your new password. In case you experience any problem working with the TIMS portal, do not hesitate to reach out to NTSA for help using the contact details below.
