The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has various ways in which you can pay for your electricity bill, the most popular one being the use of M-PESA. This applies to prepaid customers who buy tokens and postpaid customers who pay a monthly bill.

The use of M-PESA PayBill is a much faster and convenient way compared to having to visit KPLC offices to make your payment, going to the bank or buying at the vendors.
How to Buy KPLC Prepaid Tokens via M-PESA
- Go to your M-PESA menu and select Lipa na M-PESA,
- select PayBill from the menu,
- enter the KPLC Postpaid Business No. 888880,
- enter your KPLC Prepaid Meter Number (e.g. 0100 xxxx xxxx x) as Account No.,
- enter the Amount you wish to pay (should be between KES. 100 and KES. 35,000),
- enter your M-PESA PIN, then
- confirm that all details are correct. KPLC will then generate a Prepaid Token valid for your meter and send it to you via SMS.
How to Pay your KPLC Postpaid Electricity Bill via M-PESA
- Go to your M-PESA menu and select Lipa na M-PESA,
- select PayBill from the menu,
- enter the KPLC Postpaid Business No. 888888,
- enter your KPLC Postpaid Meter Number (e.g. 123456) as Account No.,
- enter the Amount you wish to pay (should be between KES. 100 and KES. 35,000),
- enter your M-PESA PIN, then
- confirm that all details are correct. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
